Actually Legend of demon king Hiranyakashyapu who wished to end the life of his son, Prahlad with the help of his sister, Holika.
Holika sat in the fire with Prahlad with the intention to end the life of Prahlad.
But, no harm was done to Prahlad and instead, Holika burnt into the fire.
Since then the day is celebrated as a victory for good over bad.
Story Of Radha Krishna
The legend of Radha and Krishna is closely linked with this tradition of colors on Holi.
Young Krishna was jealous of his beloved Radha as he had a dark complexion and Radha had an extremely fair skin.
